Putting people and communities at the centre of planning policy making

23 August 2018

We are seeking a wide range of views from the South Australian community in developing and delivering the state’s new planning system. The State Planning Commission is now convening a Community Engagement Panel to review draft State Planning Policies that are required to be delivered as part of our state-wide planning reforms.

The draft State Planning Policies are statutory instruments under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 that outline the state’s vision and planning priorities. They set high level planning and design ambitions for South Australia that will guide both regional and metropolitan planning and development. Sixteen policy areas are covered including Design Quality, Adaptive Reuse, Housing Supply and Diversity, Climate Change and Strategic Transport Infrastructure. These policies are designed to prompt community debate and conversations with key stakeholders about our aspirations for South Australia’s future; how we want to see our communities and neighbourhoods look, grow and change. You may also like to watch our video on the State Planning Policies.

We invite you to be a part of this panel and provide your views on these important polices and future state-wide planning reforms. Please note people who are involved in political activity or employment are ineligible to participate.  Please register your interest to join the Community Engagement Panel by emailing
