Minister's Specification SA H3.2 Concessions for farm buildings - 2015 edition will take effect from 1 May 2015 by Notice in Government Gazette Issue #26/2015 on 23 April 2015. Alongside the updated Minister's Specification is a guideline to assist in the application of the concessions to farm buildings.

The National Construction Code 2015 will take effect from 1 May 2015 by Notice in Government Gazette Issue #26/2015 on 23 April 2015 with the following alteration:

  • SA Table 1 and SA H3.2 of Volume One - Minister’s Specification SA H3.2 Concessions and additional requirements for farm buildings (dated 2004) is replaced with Minister’s Specification SA H3.2 Concessions for farm buildings (dated 2015)

Flood hazard areas have been excluded as a state variation to both Volume One and Two.

The previously deferred slip resistance provisions for Class 1 buildings apply from 1 May 2015.

Minister's Specification SA 76 - Maintenance of Essential Safety Provisions - 2015 edition will take effect from 1 May 2015 by Notice in Government Gazette Issue #10/2015 on 5 February 2015.

Building work supervisors for roof framing

The online list of building work supervisors who have completed approved training in roof framing will be removed from 1 May 2015.

Where roof framing work is being undertaken, a building work supervisor may need to provide evidence of their suitability to complete the supervisor’s checklist for roof framing to the council in accordance with Regulation 74(5). An Advisory Notice has been issued to provide further advice.

Review of the Premises Standards

The Commonwealth Department of Industry and Science, in conjunction with the Attorney-General’s Department, is calling for submissions on the effectiveness of the Disability (Access to Premises – Buildings) Standards 2010 (Premises Standards) in providing access to buildings for people with disability.

The terms of reference, discussion paper, details on how to make a submission and to register to attend a public information session on the review, please visit the review website. Submissions close at 11:59 PM AEST on Monday 15 June 2015.
