NatHERS update

Technical Note update

The Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) Administrator has published a new Technical Note (version May 2019) to replace the existing Technical Note 1 (version 1.2 - 2014) which details the requirements for NatHERS assessments.

The new Technical Note largely reflects the current Technical Note in intent, however has been extensively rewritten to improve structure and clarity, and to include a small number of changes to align with the new version of the Chenath Engine.

Key points:

  • NatHERS Accredited Assessors will be required to apply the requirements of the Technical Note (version May 2019) for all new assessments from 31 May 2019.
  • For assessments currently in progress, NatHERS Accredited Assessors may use the requirements outlined in Technical Note 1 (version 1.2 – 2014) until 30 June 2019. Accredited Assessors must note this transitional arrangement in the ‘Additional Notes’ section of the NatHERS Certificate.
  • Tables 3 and 4 from the current Technical Note 1 (version 1.2 - 2014) have been added as Appendices (2 and 3) to the NatHERS Technical Note (version May 2019). This will enable NatHERS Accredited Assessors to still meet the Technical Note (version May 2019) requirements if using the current Chenath engine version 3.13 until May 2020.
